Frequently Asked Questions
How do elephants show love?
Elephants show love through gentle touches, trunk intertwining, and playful behaviors. They express affection by rumbling, trumpeting softly, and staying close to their loved ones, forming strong emotional bonds within their herd.
What to wear to Elephant Sanctuary Chiang Mai?
For your visit to Living Green Elephant Sanctuary, wear comfortable clothing that you don’t mind getting a little dirty. Closed-toe shoes or sandals with a strap are ideal, and consider wearing lightweight, breathable clothes suitable for outdoor activities. Don’t forget a hat and sunscreen to stay protected from the sun!
Can I stay at an elephant sanctuary?
Many elephant sanctuaries in Chiang Mai offer day visits, but not all provide overnight stays. However, Living Green Elephant Sanctuary focuses on day trips, where you can enjoy immersive experiences with the elephants. For overnight stays, we recommend booking a nearby hotel in Chiang Mai for a comfortable and relaxing experience.
What to do if an elephant attacks you?
If an elephant attacks, stay calm and avoid panicking. Do not run—slowly move behind a tree or large object for protection. Elephants usually attack when threatened, so always maintain a safe distance. At Living Green Elephant Sanctuary, we prioritize safety and ensure peaceful, respectful interactions with our elephants.
How fast can an elephant run?
Elephants can run at speeds of up to 25 miles per hour (40 kilometers per hour) in short bursts, though they typically move at a much slower pace when walking. Their large size and weight limit their ability to sustain high speeds, but they are surprisingly fast for their size over short distances.
